Tackling Difficult Issues in School Administration: Practical Guidance for a Safe and Successful School

Program Description
School administration requires a delicate balance and thorough understanding of the legal, civil and constitutional rights granted to students, parents, teachers and school districts. What can your school do to build a culture of respect? What is a school districts'obligation to protect the safety of students? What actions can be taken to effectively protect everyone's rights while working within the scope of the law? How does a school protect its staff from violent students? How long are you required to keep student records? This program will investigate some of the serious issues plaguing our schools, including Building a Culture of Respect in the Schools; Student Violence; Weapons on Campus; Student & Schools Records; and Disciplinary Action/Expulsion.The participant will not only be introduced to the legal and liability complexities of these concerns, but will walk away with practical guidelines on how to address and implement policy. School Administrators, School Board Members, Teachers, Resource Officers, Social Workers, Counselors, School Psychologists and everyone responsible in the school environment will benefit from this program. All registrants will receive extensive written materials, prepared by the faculty, which will complement the live discussion.
